America’s Cup Challenger Ready To Revive US Sailing

The US syndicate’s helmsman for the 2021 America’s Cup is none other than the prestigious Kiwi Dean Barker. In addition, there would be an international team of sailors for the first bit of New York Yacht Club in 15 years.

As the time nears, the newly set up team considers investing in best talent rather than depending on domestic sailors. They believe that it is the ideal thing to do so as to fulfill their goals in New Zealand. Terry Hutchinson, the American Magic skipper as well as the Executive Director said that in order to see the impact of sport like they want to, it is important to achieve victory first.

American Magic is in fact the one and only US Challenger besides Luna Rossa from Italy and Ineos Team UK from Britain will bid to topple Emirates Team New Zealand. It defeated Oracle Team USA by Larry Ellison in Bermuda 2017.  Oracle was specifically made up of sailors from Australia and include Jimmy Spithill, the skipper who refused to make an entry in the upcoming Cup cycle post the announcement made by the Kiwis regarding movement from Bermuda to monohulls. As per Hutchinson, it is important to bring sailing back, especially for the youth generation. He always has a clear vision and was inspired by Gary Jobson, who achieved America’s Cup in San Diego when Hutchinson was only 9 years old.

There is something about sailing and one can never get enough of it, especially when they are passionate about the sport. If you are a sailor, the sight of people engaged in the sport, purchasing sailboats, and sailing in the water gives you a great feeling as per Hutchinson. The opportunity truly lies when you are in a situation where you have won. This is what Hutchison; one of the renowned sailors feels about sailing.
